The former Bank of Ireland clerk found his true calling in racing when banks all over Ireland went on strike in 1970. Jordan moved to New Jersey, where he found such success in auto racing that he was picked up by Team Marlboro and had a flourishing albeit fraught career. After several accidents, he retired and began to mentor other aspiring drivers, all the while investing his earnings smartly, as his net worth attests.
